Golf tournament raised more than $90,000 for childcare scholarships
Portland, ME - On Monday, September 19, Catholic Charities Maine (CCM) held its 20th Annual Put Children First Golf Classic tournament and live auction at the Woodlands in Falmouth, Maine. This event has raised more than a million dollars for Childcare Scholarships benefitting low-income families in Southern Maine over the years. For the 20th Anniversary, golfers, sponsors, and volunteers helped raise a record-breaking amount - more than $90,000 for childcare scholarships for families who rely on CCM’s childcare services at Saint Elizabeth’s in Portland and St. Louis in Biddeford.
With money raised at the Put Children First Golf Classic, CCM’s child development centers can help fill gaps when parents are at risk of falling behind on payments because of illness, car job loss, or other disruptions. The scholarships help ensure that no child attending CCM’s centers goes without childcare or experiences the stress that can arise when family finances are disrupted.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many people who support the Put Children First Golf Classic,” said CCM CEO Steve Letourneau. “Some of our players and sponsors have been with us since the beginning, and everyone really pulled out the stops to make our 20th a tremendous success. It was a great day of golf in support of our mission to ensure consistent, quality childcare to low-income families in Southern Maine.”
